This is one of our most popular courses, with a 1:2 instructor / student ratio you are guaranteed to learn lots! This two day course is ideal for anyone with seconding experience who wants to lead their first climb or anyone with some leading experience who wishes to improve. Covering everything from selection of protection and ropework to understanding and constructing good belays in a variety of situations, at the end of the 2 days you will have had the opportunity to lead routes under the careful supervision of one of our experienced instructors.
Is it for you?
You have some climbing experience on single pitch and or multi-pitch crags and want to try lead climbing under the close supervision and coaching of our experienced and friendly instructors. Ideally you will have seconded at least 10 single pitch routes of Severe or above and have a desire to progress your climbing.
What we Cover?
The course will generally be operated in a single pitch venue, however subject to your previous experience this may also be a mountain crag. Climbs can range from VD to HS again depending on the client aspirirations, ability and other variables such as weather. Over the course of the 2 days we intend to look at the following areas:
- Anchors and Ropework
- Guidebooks and route choice
- Equipment and its uses
- Personal Abseiling
- Lead Climbing under close supervision
- Placing effective runners
- Belays and rope management
- Mental Preperation
- Movement Skills
All our staff are dedicated climbers and have a great depth of knowledge of the local crags. They are qualified and experienced in teaching climbing at all levels from beginners to more advanced climbers, and will be keen to pass on their knowledge to you.
